Why Stay At The Hermosa Inn

This Paradise Valley resort feels like vintage Arizona—a true hidden oasis in the Sonoran Desert.

The Scoop

Cowboy artist Lon Megargee built the Hermosa Inn as his primary residence and studio in the 1930s and later converted the property into a small guest ranch. Today, the boutique resort's 34 rooms and casitas feature wood-beamed ceilings, authentic period furnishings, and Megargee's original artwork. A recent $2 million renovation has transformed the once modest bathrooms into lavish retreats with sunken tubs and walk-in showers. Tucked into a posh residential neighborhood, the cozy inn is an ideal hideaway for couples looking for a romantic getaway, and its small cactus gardens, views of Camelback Mountain, and prime location near Phoenix's Camelback Corridor can't be beat. Insider Tips

The elegant LON's at The Hermosa serves western-inspired dishes—such as duck with blackberry mole and truffle-scented mac and cheese—many of which are prepared with ingredients from the resort's organic garden.

No visit to the Hermosa Inn is complete without a drink (or two) on one of the resort's Spanish-style patios. Consider a margarita just outside LON's main dining room, where you can admire the hacienda's adobe architecture and massive 125-year-old mesquite tree.
