Why Stay At The Langham Huntington
This sprawling estate-like hotel offers spacious Old World luxury and a respite from the commotion of L.A's unique bustle.
Rising like a palace over the improbable locale of quiet Pasadena, The Langham Huntington has changed hands many times since opening way back in 1907. What hasn't changed is the feeling of luxury. With 23 manicured acres punctuated by palm trees, the Langham features highlights like the opulent 11,000-square-foot spa, Italian-marble bathrooms, and chandelier-heavy ballrooms that make you feel like you're a character in The Great Gatsby. The 380 rooms and suites have four-poster beds, French doors, and dark wood furniture.
Don't miss the traditional British afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches, scones with Devonshire cream, and cakes. Served in the lobby, the cost is $39 per person, or $56 for the Royal Tea (includes champagne).
Pasadena is 11 miles northeast of downtown L.A., and this being the city that invented car culture, renting a vehicle is required to get anywhere. The hotel does, however, offer a free shuttle into Old Pasadena for guests.
