Why Stay At Vail Cascade Resort & Spa
This ski-in, ski-out resort on the western edge of Vail offers every amenity imaginable, from a 78,000-square-foot fitness center (with a mountain-view indoor basketball court) to summertime "dive-in" movies (films projected on an inflatable screen set in the outdoor pool). You'll have plenty to keep you busy, no matter the season.
A $30 million renovation in 2008 upped the ante at Vail Cascade, where a new deck looks onto an infinity pool, outdoor fire pits are surrounded by rocking chairs, and all spaces boast views of the mountain and Gore Creek. Large refreshed rooms are filled with natural light and accented by light wood furnishings and earth-tone fabrics. The ultimate bonus: most rooms have patios and balconies, and each has a fireplace and heated stone bathroom floors. As for other activities, there are snow cones by the pool, alfresco candlelit dinners, and pampering treatments such as high-altitude hydrating massages at the Aria spa.
There's no need to head into town to get on the mountain. Chair 20, just outside the hotel entrance, is rarely crowded and gets skiers on the powder in no time.
Don't miss the hotel's ski season boot camp. Colorado locals opt for the complete 12-session program, but guests can drop in, too (one session $15).
