Why Stay At Tiamo Resort
This intimate resort is accessible only by water or seaplane, providing seclusion in one of the most scenic places on the planet for sea fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, and barrier reef diving.
Tiamo is set on the island of South Andros (about 210 miles from Fort Lauderdale), whose thousands of square miles of unsullied nature are usually visited only by anglers hunting for bonefish. The property, occupying a beachfront stretch surrounded by 125 acres of wilderness preserve, has just 10 pine-wood bungalows, all of which are screened and elevated on stilts, with solar-powered electricity, hot water generated by thermal heaters, comfy king-size beds, and organic Egyptian-cotton linens. In the main lodge you'll find spectacular meals (don't skip breakfast or you'll miss the heavenly coconut-crusted French toast), an open-air bar (set on the beach in summer), and a Nature Concierge Team that organizes daily trips to explore the island's natural wonders. You can snorkel at offshore blue holes once explored by Jacques Cousteau; kayak through the shallow waters of the South Bight; or take guided inland treks to see orchids, giant cactus, and Andros rock iguanas. After a day of discovery, your comfy beachfront hammock will look awfully inviting.
Cottages do not include TVs although the entire resort is wired for free Internet and has cell phone service. The library includes one satellite TV and a selection of books and magazines.
All guests meet with the chef shortly after arrival to discuss meals, especially any allergies or preferences. The concierge also meets with each guest for an informative chat about how best to schedule spa appointments and book excursions.
Arrive at Congo Town International (TZN) from Fort Lauderdale or Nassau. The airport is 2.5 miles (5-10 minutes) from the resort.South Andros Island, The Bahamas

Why We Love South Andros Island
South Andros Island is a place to fall off the map for lounging in a hammock on white-sand beaches; exploring diverse tropical ecosystems; hunting killer bonefish; or day trekking to reef, trench, and blue hole dives.
Where to Drink: Tiamo Resort also has the only bar around for miles, so sit in a hammock by the beach and order up a Bahama Mama. This refreshing cocktail includes fresh pineapple and strawberry juices, Bahamas-made banana rum, and a marinated cherry on top. Drinks for two $30 (alcoholic beverages are not included in the room rate).
Best Outdoor Excursion: Take one of the resort's guided inland treks to Drigg's Hill to see orchids, giant cactus, and protected Andros rock iguanas. The half-day trip lasts about four hours; choose to end with a picnic on a private beach.
Starting at $95 per person.
Best Day Trip: Andros Barrier Reef is the third longest in the world and is just a 10-minute boat ride from the resort, while the famous Stargate Blue Hole is only five minutes away. The resort's concierge can arrange a private guide for snorkelers and divers, depending on abilities and certifications.
