Why Stay At Park Weggis
The view of the Alps across Lake Lucerne is nothing less than fairytale, and the service is ultra-attentive at this picture-perfect Alpine luxury retreat.
Built in 1875, and refurbished and expanded in 2008, the 52-room Park Weggis is located on the shores of Lake Lucerne, surrounded by the Alps in the charming hamlet of Weggis (30 minutes from Zurich). Although the exterior's lush green lawns, Victorian turrets, and chalet-style balconies honor tradition, the interior embraces more contemporary elements—neutral colors, streamlined fixtures and furnishings, and high-tech tablet devices. Amenities include six private spa cottages available for all-day use, three restaurants (including The Annex, a Mediterranean-Asian spot with one Michelin star), two bars, and a pool and private beach with umbrella-covered loungers.
Ask the concierge to set up a sommelier tour or tasting in the hotel's nearly 3,000-bottle wine cellar (fees apply and vary based on group size).
In Switzerland's only Tibetan-style spa room (blessed by a Tibetan monk), try the Himalaya Harmony massage with herb-infused oils, designed to realign the body's imbalances (90 minutes, $220).
Arrive at Zurich International Airport (ZRH) which is approximately 40 miles from the hotel. Anticipate about 40 minutes of travel time.Hertensteinstrasse 34, Weggis, Lucerne, Switzerland

Dinner for two $160.
Where to Drink: Located at sister property the Post Hotel (a 10-minute walk from Park Weggis), the brick-walled, vault-ceilinged Wine Cellar is for serious oenophiles. Try a Swiss Riesling from the Gantenbein winery.

Best Lake Cruise: Cruise past tall peaks and mountain meadows on an old-fashioned steamboat, stopping at ports of call along the way. From Weggis, it's a 45-minute trip to Lucerne, and you can add other excursions.
Roundtrip to Lucerne $40, day pass $70.
Best Day Trip: From Lucerne, take a bus to Mount Pilatus for a cable-car ride to the summit and a descent on the world's steepest cog railroad, followed by a boat trip back to Lucerne.
