The Lodge at Pico Bonito
La Ceiba, Honduras
Why Stay At The Lodge at Pico Bonito
Nestled at the foot of Pico Bonito National Park, the luxury eco-lodge is surrounded by verdant jungle teeming with 400 species of birds and other wildlife including ocelots, jaguars and white-faced monkeys.
Only a short distance from Honduras' Caribbean coast, the Lodge at Pico Bonito sits on 200 acres at the park's edge where two fast-moving rivers meet. Discreetly scattered among old cacao groves, the 22 stand-alone cabins are designed with indigenous furnishings and understated plantation-style décor paying homage to the area's agricultural history. All are breezy and open, allowing guests to appreciate the vibrant jungle setting by featuring private verandas complete with hammocks and walls of louvered windows. The Lodge offers an outdoor pool and sun deck plus a restaurant and bar. Venture out for a tranquil hike along the Loop Trail and stop to climb observation decks for a better view of the forest from aloft. Or you may decide to join one of the numerous guided explorations to nearby Rio Congrejal or discover the world's second largest reef around the small islands of Cayos Chocinos.
Cabins are purposely without TVs so as not to disrupt from the sounds of the jungle.
To soothe sore muscles after a long day hiking, book a relaxing massage administered in the privacy of your cabin.
Arrive at Golosón International Airport (LCE) which is approximately 6 miles from the lodge. Anticipate about 10 minutes of travel time.Aldea El Pino KM175, La Ceiba, Atlántida, Honduras

Why We Love La Ceiba
Surrounded by rainforest, wildlife preserves, fast-flowing rivers and miles of beaches, La Ceiba is Honduras' eco-tourism capital, and despite its population of 200,000 has retained a Latin American small-town feel.
Where to Drink: You don't have to go off property to enjoy a view with your cocktail. Have your libation of choice served to you on the on-site outdoor patio and drink in the sounds of the jungle around you. Keep your eyes open for colorful hummingbirds buzzing around feeders set up all around the cabins and lodge.
Outdoor Excursion: Take your pick from a wide range of accompanied excursions—varying from medium to high intensity—lead by the lodge's trained guides. We recommend the hike to Unbelievable Falls, which cascade almost 100 feet into a shimmering rock pool. Cool off with a delightful morning swim.

The best place to witness the week before Easter is the mountain town of Santa Rosa de Copan, which is close to the Mayan Copan ruins. Six separate parades reenact biblical events from the Easter story, and the effort and detail is a true spectacle.
